we have an requirement to read idle error counter. Unable to find relevant status register. Can you provide register address to read idle error counter?

Hi Prashanth,

Packet error counters are available in register 0x639-0x63E. Please read these 6 registers in order. Let me know if this meets your requirement.

0x639-0x63E register contains RX/TX counter and RX/TX Error counter. Requirement mentions read idle error counter.

Can you kindly clarify what you mean by "read idle error counter"? Please point me to any standard or document which you may be referencing.

Which OEM is this requirement needed for?

If you can help me understand what/how this will be used, that will be great. I would like to understand where the requirement comes from.

Hi Prashanth,

The Idle Error Counter which is present in DP83867 is relevant only to the 1000Base-T Ethernet (Standard Ethernet). This is shown in IEEE802.3 Table 40-3.

DP83TC813 is a 100Base-T1 PHY (Single Pair Ethernet). This same counter is not relevant to 100Base-T1, and hence not available in DP83TC813.

Please use the packet error counters available in registers 0x639-0x63E for your diagnostic purposes using DP83TC813.

Hi Prashanth,

No, register 0x486 is not an idle error counter. Idle error counter is not relevant or available in DP83TC813.

Please use the packet error counters available in registers 0x639-0x63E.
