DP83826E: in use with ET1100

Part Number: DP83826E

Tool/software:

Hello,

i have questions regarding DP83826 in use with Beckhoff ASIC (ET1100).

Is it possible to use the DP83826 only with Strapping configurations ( odd nibble detection off, FLD off) ?

Especially the link state causes problems, LED0 is blinking after a link was established and LED1 isn´t working too, as expected. The ET1100 needs a low active signal when link is established...

Best regards

Martin

  • Hi Martin,

DP83826 can be used with only strapping configuration.

To disable odd nibble detection and FLD, you can set the PHY in ENHANCED MODE (MODESELECT = F)
You can set strap1 and strap7 to mode 0.
Please follow Figure 8-13 in DP83826 Datasheet for more information (Rev. I).

In enhanced mode, LED polarity is auto-detected at the power-up.
If you need active low signal, please follow the strapping configuration below:

  • i know that, but as i described in the question: The LED0 Output is blinking after a link is established, this causes the ET1100 to open/close the port in the frequency of the blinking.

What i would need for working system would be only "Link OK", but i think this could only be changed with the SM Interface. Or is there a different signal which signals Link ok only ?

  • Hi Martin,

LED0 only configures to link ok/blink for activity in strap. LED1 can configure to link ok in strapping by default.
