TDP0604: schematic check

Part Number: TDP0604

Hi

The customer requires DP++ functionality. Currently, we are using a TDP0604IRNQR, and the circuit diagram is shown below.

could you help check the below TPD0604 schematic and any need to adjust,

I would like to ask: DP is AC coupled, and HDMI is DC coupled. Currently, AC_EN is implemented using a resistor.

If DP++ functionality is implemented, will AC_EN be automatically handled internally?

Another question: Since the TDP0604 doesn't have an AUX pin, does the DP_AUX output from the SOC need to be directly connected to the DP Connector? The DP connector wiring hasn't been drawn yet.

  • Hi Gareth,
DP++ is different from regular DP. This just means that the source can transmit both DP or HDMI signal.
Are you trying to support both DP and HDMI signals via TDP0604?

In the schematic, it looks like you are doing just HDMI.

I would like to ask: DP is AC coupled, and HDMI is DC coupled. Currently, AC_EN is implemented using a resistor.

If you are doing HDMI, AC_EN should be disabled to ensure the TX signal is DC-coupled.

AC_EN will not be handled automatically and you will have to restrap the device at power-up.

Another question: Since the TDP0604 doesn't have an AUX pin, does the DP_AUX output from the SOC need to be directly connected to the DP Connector? The DP connector wiring hasn't been drawn yet.

If the SOC takes 3.3V for AUX signal, you can directly connect it. However, in many cases, SOC does not support 3.3V aux so customers use level shifter or MOSFET to change the voltage.

    The schematic looks good.

    Best,

  • Hi J

Are there any reference circuits for use with DP++ and a DP connector? The customer wants to know: How is AC_EN controlled when a DP or HDMI signal is plugged into the DP connector? How is the AUX signal level shift connected to the DP connector?

  • Hi Gareth,

We do not have reference circuit. However, TDP0604 will not support DP AND HDMI at the same time, if that is what the customer is trying to do.
For DP connection, AC_EN will have to be enabled. And TDP0604's level shifter will not work so the customer will have to use external connection for AUX connection because AUX is not open-drain like DDC bus.

    Best,
    J
