DP83TG720R-Q1: Fail to go into sleep mode

Hello team,

My customer is using the DP83TG720R-Q1, but failed to switch into Sleep Mode

Following step is the case:

All above steps they have read back the register to double confirmed and made the wake pin into Low.

But seems the PHY can not enter Sleep Mode.

Hi Daniel,

Sorry for the delay on this. Can the customer provide schematics for the PHY?

The PHY is Master correct? Is the link partner enabled for sleep mode as well?

Can you provide a scope capture of WAKE transitioning from high to low along with INH?

When WAKE pin is low, can the customer read any registers of the PHY?

The phy is master. see the simplified schematics. we have a switch RTL9071CL.

I set switch to sleep mode first (the current change low immediately, SW_INH is low). Then set phy to sleep, PHY_INH is still high, and I can read phy register. (e.g.: addr:0x45D=0x1120, 0x1834=0xC001, same value before and after set phy to sleep)

The WAKE pin is always low, even in normal state.

Hi Xia,

This indicates the PHY never went to sleep. Are you placing- to sleep only by pin mode? Can you toggle the WAKE pin high then low and see if the PHY will enter sleep? The PMIC is controlling the INH pin to the switch?

Hello Undrea,

There is a 10kΩ pullup in WAKE line, after remove it, INH become LOW.
