SN54SC6T07-SEP: Query Regarding SN54SC6T07-SEP Output Pin Connection

Dear Team,

I have a question regarding the output pin connections of the SN54SC6T07-SEP.

Can I connect (merge) all the output pins together and use the combined output to drive the NRST pin of the MCU, assuming that 5 inputs are active low and 1 input is push-pull?

I would appreciate your guidance on whether this configuration is recommended or if there are any concerns with doing so.

Hello Bhakti,

The issue with connecting multiple output channels is bus contention. For more information, see this FAQ:

[FAQ] Can I connect two outputs from a CMOS logic device together directly?

From your use case, 5 inputs will be forced low while the 6th input will be toggling which is not recommended.

Could you please share the minimum and maximum high-level output voltage (VOH) values for the SN54SC6T07-SEP when it is powered with a 3.3 V supply?

Hello Bhakti,

This part has open-drain outputs meaning it has no VOH values. Open-drain devices have two states: Low and Hi-Z.

During a Hi-Z state, the device requires a pullup to bring the output to VCC.
