Hello,

I am using an LP-AM263P evaluation board.  Is there any way to use MCAN7 interface in this board without using an external MCAN transceiver? Can this interface be routed to the existing MCAN transceiver on board?

    Hi Ionut,

    No — MCAN7 cannot be routed to the onboard CAN transceiver. The onboard TCAN1044VDRBTQ1 transceiver is hardwired to MCAN3 on the AM263Px SoC. There is no board-level switching or jumper option to reroute it to MCAN7 1.

    MCAN7 Availability

    MCAN7 signals are accessible only on the BoosterPack headers via pinmux configuration 1:

    Signal Header Pin Pinmux Mode
    MCAN7_TX J1.3 Mode 3
    MCAN7_TX J5.45 Mode 6
    MCAN7_RX J1.4 Mode 3
    MCAN7_RX J4.34 Mode 6
    To use MCAN7 for CAN bus communication, you must connect an external CAN transceiver (e.g., TCAN1051VDRQ1 or TCAN1044V) to one of these header pin pairs 1.

    If your goal is simply to get CAN communication working with the onboard transceiver, use MCAN3 instead.

    The schematic above shows the onboard transceiver is connected exclusively to MCAN3 with split termination on CANH/CANL 1.
