Hi all,

Delta Controls is looking for a single port 10/100 Base-T Ethernet PHY that supports Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) because their MPU’s Ethernet MAC doesn’t support it.

Broadcom offers a technology that gets around this by implementing EEE fully on the PHY. They call it AutoGrEEEn.

AutoGrEEEn enables energy savings for legacy non-EEE MAC based systems.

Does TI have anything on the roadmap that would support AutoGrEEEn like features?

I moved your post to the Ethernet forum. This is the best place for posts related to TI's Ethernet PHY and MAC+PHY products.

We do not currently have any released products in our portfolio that support EEE, but we have a GigE PHY with EEE support in development. We are also evaluating development of a 10/100 PHY with EEE support.

Note that these products are targeting support for IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet. This is defined by an industry standard. The AutoGrEEEn functionality from Broadcom is a proprietary implementation, not an IEEE standard.

Hi,
I found the Triple Speed Phy DP83867IR which has various Sleep modes. But in the data sheet there is no remark on Energy Efficient Ethernet or conformity to 802.3az. Is that PHY 802.3az conform ?
It is mentioned in the description of the EVM: www.ti.com/.../DP83867IRPAP-EVM;tisearch=Search-EN-Everything

You are correct. The DP83867IR does not support EEE. Thank you for highlighting the mention of EEE on the EVM page. We will correct this.

you mentioned a GigE Phy in development which supports EEE, since it is not the now available DP83867, when can we expect the one supporting EEE ?

I stumbled across this thread as one of the top hits on EEE so I thought I would comment on some other things I found... First, there is a blog post on this topic from a couple weeks ago:

Based on the blog page, it looks like the DP83822 is likely the PHY in development that had this capability. Looks like it's available now.

Note, however, that 802.3az must be supported in both the MAC and the PHY.
