Please give us advice about USBN9604-28MX/NOPB.

(We know this is now NRND,but our customer already using this)

Our customer now using USBN9604 with their products and recently they had adopted them to windows7.

They of course know USBN9604 can handle only USB1.0/1.1 and it works as USB1.0/1.1 slave with USB2.0 and 3.0 master.

Otherwise, in windows7 PC, USB9604 does not work in their test.

Accurately, it does not work with wndows7 OS and USB2.0 . it works with windows7 OS and USB3.0 .

So the customer have several quiestions.

1. Have you heard the case that USBN9604 does not work with windows7 and USB2.0 in any other customer?

2. If USBN9604 cannot work with win7 and USB 2.0, could we get any advice or workaround or something to fix it ?

3. Do you have USBN9604 EVM or reference design ?

I don't think this issue is related to the 9604 Device.

When you connect a USB1.0/1.1 in a USB 3.0 port, what is actually happening is that the USB2.0 portion of the USB3.0 Host Controller is taking care of the communication, in other words, if it works in USB 3.0 that means that it is working with a USB 2.0 Host controller.

Can you describe what do you mean by "does not work..." ?

Is it the same platform with USB2.0 and USB3.0 ?

What is the VID/PID of the USB2.0 host controller ?

Have they tried different USB1.1 devices on this USB2.0 host controller?

Is the OS putting a yellow bang on the 9604 Device?

The customer did not answer your question but give us new data and hypothesis.

Do you know that USB standard regulates time period for "Attached -> Powered ->Default" transaction ?

They think their signal processing is too slow to meet USB standard. Pls see the attached file.

Hello,

I am not sure what timing are they looking for, the USB specs that when a device is "attached" it will a 100ms windows until the USB Host try to start reading the descriptors.

They can find more timing requirements on the Chapter 7 of the USB Spec.
