Hello,

So basically, the device must be connected to the controller by means of the parallel data bus (please see the TL16C2550 Block Diagram and pin functions, datasheet page 4), and the customer only have to configure all the internal registers for the desired settings and that's it. For normal operation you only have to write data to the THR register in order to transmit it, meanwhile the data reception is done by reading the RHR register and attending the status and/or the interruptions generated by the TL16C2550. Please review the application information and the principles of operation for a detailed description.
