Hi Kerr,

The first image in your document is correct. What part is getting hot? The external FET? The TPS65982?

I am curious, why is there a pull down circuit on the HV_GATE2 in the second picture?

Check section 9.2.1 Fully-Featured USB Type-C & PD Charger Application in the datasheet for reference.
