Hello to everyone,

i would like to use the TUSB2046BITexas_Instruments-TUSB2046BIVFR-datasheet.pdf in my design for controlling two modems (USB Signals) but unfortunately i have to use the same USB Bus. For this reason i decided to use the tub2046 bi (the onlyone that has industrial specifications even if i need only two USB ports instead of 4). However because of the big current values that the two modems need i do not need to use the PWR_ON and the OVRCUR signals at all. 
Would it be a problem if i leave the PWRON not connected and the OVRCUR connected with Ground or would it make it difficult to use the ic that i chose?

    Hello,
    If you want to get USB certification and the downstream ports of the TUSB2046B are going to be exposed then you must use external power switches that are controller with the PWRON# and OVRCUR# signals.

    If the modems are going to be permanently attached to the TUSB2046B and you are going to control the power to thse modems externally then you don't have to use the PWRON# and OVRCUR# signals.

    PWRON# can be left floating and OVRCUR# should be pulled up to VCC

    Hello and thanks a lot for your answer.

    Howerver there are two important signals too, the GANGED and the BUSPWR, of which the functions are also connected with the mechanism that uses the PWRON# and the OVRCUR# Signals . Since i am not going to use these two signals , i have also to take in mind that i have to somehow handle these signals (GANGED and BUSPWR) do you have any idea, or should i leave them also floating?

    You won't need the functionality of GANGED if you are not using the OVRCUR#/PWRON# signals, so you can leave it floating, the recommendation is always to leave the space for a PU/PD in case you use them in the future.

    BUSPWR is independent from OVRCUR#/PWRON#, you have to set that terminal accordingly whether you are using external power or VBUS to power the Hub.

    Hi again,

    I have to thank you for your answer. As fas as i understood it i should connect the BUSPWR signal to ground because i use external power.
