a usb switch with ts3usb221a/e

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3USB221, TS3USB221A

hi all

i want to make a usb2.0 switch using ts3usb221a/e.because of i am not familiar with usb prorocol, i want to ask if i connect one usb flash disk or mouse to two pc host by ts3usb221. the pc host will re-enumerate the usb device every time when i switch the channel, right?

best regard.

  • The TS3USB221A device is a passive FET switch that can be ideally modeled as a 0 ohm wire.  This IC will have no effect on the enumeration process but simply pass the signals from one BUS to another.

The enumeration sequence will be dependent on other ICs in the system like the USB PHY.  Unfortunately I'm not familiar with how the enumeration sequence is initiated between a PC and its peripherals.   I will move this thread to the consumer and computing forum where someone in that community may know how this enumeration sequence works.

This document I found searching google helps simply explain the enumeration process and has some links at the bottom to other USB implementers forums and documents.
