Hi,

Let me confirm about below.

I found following thread on E2E. According to this thread, it seems if user use mode 1 or 2 for strap setting of RX_CTRL, auto negotiation issue will happen.

Is my understanding correct ?

If so, even if user will set SGMII auto negtiation enable setting by using register(Add 0x0014[7]=1), does this negtiation issue will happen ?

Hi Machida-san,

Your understanding is correct.

If the user is unable to strap the RX_CTRL line to mode 3, value 0x170 should be written to register address 0x31 then auto-negotiation restarted.

Did you indicate following register to restart auto-negotiation ?

bit 8 is reserved region, so could you confirm just in case ?

Hi Machida-san,

This is correct, the bit is reserved and it controls an internal timer. This is a work around for the case that RX_CTRL has not been strapped to the proper value.

I understood about reserved bitfield.

On the other hand, we also have a question about waveform of SGMII.

Sorry for going back previous question.

However, I would like you to confirm when this setting should be performed.

If there is the rule to set address 0x31, could you please tell it me ?

Hi Machida-san,

Any time the PHY is powered on, or the RESET signal is asserted to the PHY, the PHY will lose its register settings and strap in the values on the pins.

Register 0x31 should be changed after the reset occurs, and auto-negotiation should be restarted.
