Will one of the default personalities selected by HW allow the TPS65982D PD controller to pass-through the USB 2.0 interface? (datasheet Table 14. Factory Device Configuration Selection)

Hi David,

If you want the USB signals to be passed all the time even when there is no alternate mode negotiated you will have to disable USB EP and Billboard. That was you will not billboard when you only have a USB Type-C connection.

Check out this post from awhile back, it show on how the USB path will be disable to enable billboarding.

I forgot one more thing. Enable the USB RP setting.

Hi Jacob;

The customer will not have a flash or any means to communicate with the TPS65982D and needs to use one of the Eight Factory Set Device Configurations modes to enable USB_RP so they can communicate with the host processor through the mux. Does one of these eight modes provide for USB 2.0 through the mux?.

Hi David,

Sorry the delay, I've been traveling. Just looked at the code and confirmed that the end point is always enabled which means that the USB RP path would be broken when we don't go into an alternate mode and time out.

Since the system can power up from VBUS at 5V could the customer's embedded controller write to our register to configure the USB RP setting.

Hi Jacob; Can you write to our register over the USB, or would you have to write to the part via I2C to configure the USB_RP setting?
