SD1983EVK: SD1983EVK Analog LaunchPAD Framework (ALP) Windows 10 x64

Part Number: SD1983EVK

I am not able to get the drivers working for the SD1983EVK evaluation board of the LMH1983 on Windows 10 x64.  I'm running ALP version 1.56.

When I run ALP I get the error: "No attached ALP based USB boards were detected."

I've downloaded the drivers from Cyprus as I read from the help menu, but when I try to install the driver in device manager it doesn't recognize the drivers I download.

What should I do to get my computer to recognize these drivers?

  • Hi Daniel,

    Did you check this post?

I had a similar issue before. Hope this helps you.
    Thanks,

  • Yes, your solution doesn't work for me. I used that thread to help me try and install the driver, but no matter which folder I try, it doesn't work. I also tried the base folder and selected search all sub folders. My OS is Windows 10 x64 and that folder doesn't recognize the driver.

Has anyone tried installing on Windows 10?
  • Hi Daniel,

All of our systems in our lab and work stations currently run either Windows 7 or Windows XP. We have not tested with Windows 10.

Also, when using Windows 7 at least, the driver is not identifiable by picking a location or subfolder. I have found that you must manually pick from a list of device drivers in order to find the appropriate driver when presented the option.

I checked the website for the driver and found that there are Windows 10 drivers available: http://www.cypress.com/knowledge-base-article/drivers-ez-usb-fx1-fx2lp-and-fx3-kba94413. My thought is that if you find a similar file as the directions indicate, but for Windows 10 instead of Windows 7, you may be able to get the driver to install correctly.

Note that even if the driver installs successfully, I cannot ensure that ALP and Windows 10 will work together, since we have only tested it to work properly with Windows 7.

    Thanks,

    Michael

  • Yes, I know there is a win 10 driver and I am following your guide.  I poked around some more and I think I've solved the problem now.

On Win 10 after step 8 I get a different window and was selecting USB device instead of USB controller. Once I selected USB controller I was able to move onto step 9 and complete the install with the Win 10 driver. For Win 10 may I suggest Step 8.5:

Step 8.5: Select device type Universal Serial Bus controllers and click next.
