TUSB2046B: Data rate issue

Part Number: TUSB2046B

Dear Team,

My customer is designing a system using TUSB2046B. Unlike other common application, they need to be able to control the power of each USB connected seperately. Please see schematics below attached:

USB-Hub-G01.pdf

To be able to make all USBs functioning, all enable pins connected to KN6 is shorted together and then connected to ground. In this way, they are able to use all 3 channels, but when they connect a camera to the one of these USB inputs , they were not able to get the image. They also tried to connect a USB memory stick to measure the data rate and they saw that it was limited to 1Mb/sec. They tried to make below listed modifications:

- C38 and C39 which are 22pF are removed, but no change is observed.

- R27 and R28(22R) are replaced with a jumper, no change.

- R2 and R3(22R) are replaced with a jumper, no change.

- C1 and C2(22pF) are removed, no change.

- R32(1K5) is removed, but hub is not functioning in this case, resistor is mounted back on the board.

- R29 and R30(15k) is removed, but hub is not functioning in this case, resistor is mounted back on the board.

- U9(Transient Suppressor) is removed, but no change.

they need to increase the data rate to Full Speed level. could you please check the schematics and review to see if there is something wrong?

Best Regards,

Caglar

  • Hello Caglar,

This schematics was already posted, we are reviewing them. Please use the usbview utility to get more details on the hub and the cameras. You can load usbview.exe (it is a debug application available for free from Microsoft). Install the utility, select the hub in the left hand window, select the Options > Config Descriptor, and then Options -> Auto refresh and then hit F5. You should be able to see most descriptors reported by the hub in the right hand window.

    Regards,
    Joel
