Hello!

 

I attach the test report file that test same pcb again and additional pcb test.

 

Actually, Electronic circuit's has lot's of problem. I understant there is many kinds of reason, include my fault.

I just want to know why CAN communication error is appered.

So, Please check the SN65HVD233QDRQ1, history and simular case.

One month ago, I had experience fault situation. ( CAN Baud is 250kbps. Wire Distance about 1m. )

At that time, I just thought soldering fault because of quantity is 12 piece of pcb. ( SMT. Mouning is manual, Heating is Machine( small size ). )

Also, I had been reviewed my circuit design, MCU fault and so on.

And then, in my case, I confirmed that CAN Driver IC is Fault. Reason is

- It removed the fault with re-soldering a new IC.

- I checked MCU and Firmware with other CAN Driver Module using jumper wire. ( It removed the fault with only change CAN Driver Module )

 

And, I was to treat re-soldering myself, manual soldering, new IC. Something was pass, something was fault still.

One month later, Now.

I made new 30 piece of PCB.

Same situation is appeared.

Test Date : 30, Nov, 2017

CAN communication test for the IC (SN65HVD233QDRQ1)

At this time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Today’s 1st. Reporting a Test 15 PCB again. That result is below...     ( 9AM in the My Office. )

- Pass is 14 PCB.

- Fault is 1 PCB.

- 1 PCB goes to fault today. ( I didn’t do anything to the PCBs. )

   I want to know why it is changing.

-Fault doubt reason is below…

1. When CAN communication error : I was resolved fault, connecting to other can module with jumper wire.

2. I was try to rework a new IC : even hand-soldering, Fault was remained frequently.

At this time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- 1st. Reporting a Test 15 PCB. That result is below...     ( 10AM in the My Office. )

- Pass is 8 PCB.

- Fault is 7 PCB.

     ->   Fault rate is about 24 ~ 45%

-
- 2nd Reporting a Test Fault 7 PCB. That result is below…   ( 3PM in the My Office. )

- Pass is 4 PCB.

- Fault is 3 PCB.

- 3rd Reporting a Test Remain 3 PCB. That result is below… ( 5PM in the My Office. )

- Pass is 3 PCB.

- 15 PCB is a not fault now.

***   I don’t know why it was change.

- I guess, the SMT is not fault.

     The reason is other parts is all ok.

-LBK pin is 0V ( from MCU )
-RS pin is connected 10k resistor only.

- Pass is 5 PCB.

- Fault is 1 PCB.

- Fault is 1 PCB.

This another 6PCBs Test result is not changed.

At here, important is IC fault appears in my case.

I had experience same situation about one month ago. ( I do careful the ESD damage when testing. )

This second time appears IC fault again.

    Sorry to hear you have issues with the device. Instead of debugging for the whole system, we can check some parameters first. Step by step we might find where the problem is.
    1) what's the data rate of the communication?
    2) when two PCB communicate with each other, do they share same ground or is it possible there is a voltage difference between two grounds?
    3) when you found the communication failed, what's the indicator? Are there too many error bit or there are no signal on the bus at all?
    4) how far is it between two PCB? what media did you use for connection?
    5) I don't see much problem on the schematic. But I would suggest you put the termination as close to your device as possible, because that component help improve the signal integrity.
    These are my comments so far. We will follow up with you to continue the support.
