TUSB9261: TI SATA-USB3.0 bridge does not provide connection to some of our SSDs to Win10 PCs

The FW causes the device to reset and does not allow us to downgrade the FW back to 1.05.
Can you please advise?

Do you mean the device resets continuously?  Did you trying using Win7 or Win8 PC?  Also, try removing the SSD.

Hello Brian,

1) At first we have programmed one of the FW you provided and then the card could not response
2) We have reset the flash
3) And programmed another FW that was available there (*Polarity_Swap_Rx) and it worked, BUT did not improve the problem we had with the 1.05 version.

The problem is that we cannot access a brand of SSD. The SSD is identified but once we try to read from it Windows disconnects it.

Shai,

Usually such issues are caused because there is insufficient current to the SSD. Try to isolate 5V power to the SSD and provide it from external DC supply before retesting.

Are you saying that the same PC will provide different power whether it is under Win7 or Win10?

Just to remind on the same PC with Win7 it works.

No, the PC should provide the same power.  However, Win10 may be issuing commands which are not issued by Win7.  And those commands may consume more power.    If you can provide a USB analyzer trace, we can see what exactly is failing.

Hello Barin,
They provided external power to the SSD directly without any progress.
Though the problematic SSDs consuned 300mA while all other SSDs 250mA. Moreover, thay are enabled a 4A In-Rush current.

Ok, power is not the issue then. I'll need more debug info to look into this further. Is it possible to get UART log from the TUSB9261? You will need to connect a 3.3V to RS-232 adapter to the UART Tx pin. Baud rate is 115200. A USB analyzer trace would be helpful too.

I reviewed the logs but didn't see any obvious failure.  Does the "inno32", "inno128", and "pyson" all fail under Win10 and pass under Win7?  If you open Windows "Disk Management" tool, can you see the disk under Win10?  Can you provide a screenshot? 

Can you try this attached FW version.  Please use Windows "Disk Management" tool to delete the partition, recreate, and reformat the disk after you update the FW.

For Win10, v1.05, inno64: I see windows flagged "set address failed" in the device manager, but the device uart log shows that the Set Address was successful so that is strange:

[0000000061] Connected at SUPER speed.
[0000000162] -> usb_hal_set_address() - addr: 0x20.

I think this is the primary issue we need to debug. Is it 100% reproducible? Did you try TI EVM?
Probably I need to have this failing setup in my lab to capture a USB analyzer trace. Can you send one setup?

What is NCDRFS? I do not see this option in my Win10 machine.

It is 100% producible and the customer does not have the TI EVM.
They've sent the setup to the SSD manufacturer.
NCDRFS – is their proprietary file system. Though the problem is producible with NTFS too.
