The TUSB2077 hub is not working as a host ISP1504?

Hello,

During my search for an alternate of ISP1362 I came across this query.

As per my understanding the CPU communicates to  USB HOST controller which may have 2 or 3 port and to increase the functionality of the host we use USB HUB controller which in turn is dependent on the signals for the HOST as shown by the schematics attached above.

My questions are:

what is the difference between a USB HUB controller and a USB HOST controller??

Can we connect a HUB controller IC to CPU directly using a BUS interface and expect the same functionality are the HOST controller IC.

Thank you!
