TPS65981: TPS65981 FW update

I have the same issue described under: e2e.ti.com/support/interface/usb/f/1008/t/552800

The issue is that TPS65598x Host Interface GUI application fails to connect to USB Endpoint reporting the following error:

No TI ACE devices found

There are no solution to this issue and the thread have been closed. I need a solution to update the SPI flash firmware over the USB EP.
Please note the a TPS65981 device are found in the Windows device manager under Universal Serial Bus devices

    Hi Jonas,

    I’m sorry you’re having issues. TPS65598x Host Interface GUI application is an old configuration tool and was not updated any more. The latest configuration tool is TPS6598x Configuration Tool  which is updated every quarter. We would suggest updating to TPS6598x Configuration Tool and the latest FW and checking if it works.

    I'm using the TPS6598x Configuration Tool as well - but it does not support firmware update via USB connection connected directly to the TPS65981 USB port. Also the old tool TPS65598x Host Interface GUI application are still described in the TPS65981 EVM board documentation? Is there a solution to update the firmware via TPS65981 USB port (not using FTDI USB to I2C bridge) ?

    Hi Jonas,

    We do recommend using the latest configuration tool TPS6598x Configuration Tool, there’s no other way to update the firmware except that you can check the version shown in picture below, if the “current version” and “version date” changes, it means the firmware is updated. Then you can download and reinstall it which will include the updated firmware. It’s updated almost every quarter.

    Unfortunately we do not have a document about how to use TPS6598x Configuration Tool, but it’s much the same as TPS65598x Host Interface. If there is any problem about how to use TPS6598x Configuration Tool, you can post it on E2E, and we would be glad to help.
