TPS65982: Non PD Compliant result with Ellisys testing suite on TPS65982

Hello,

I'm currently making firmware for a product based on the TPS65982.
The product is a SNK only without data.

When running the product through the Ellisys PD 2.0 compliance suite I'm having 5 failures that I'm unable to resolve.

TD.PD.SNK.E1 SinkWaitCapTimer Deadline - Testing Upstream Port
FAILED	Sending Source Capabilities	Source Capabilities message NOT accepted

TD.PD.SNK.E2 SinkWaitCapTimer Timeout - Testing Upstream Port
FAILED	Waiting for HardReset	SinkWaitCapTimer too long, HardReset not detected after 620 ms

FAILED

Checking Request Data Object

Maximum current shall be larger than or equal to operating current when giveback is 0

TD.PD.SNK.E10 GetSinkCap in Place of PS_RDY - Testing Upstream Port
FAILED	Waiting for Soft Reset/Hard Reset	The latest spec requires UUT send HardReset within 15 ms

TD.PD.VDMU.E7 Discover SVIDs Response Time - Testing Upstream Port
PASSED	Sending Discover SVIDs	UUT must start responding within 15 ms (answered in 156 µs)
FAILED	Checking Discover SVIDs Response	Modal Operation is not supported, UUT must respond with NAK

Where can I change these setting so I can pass these tests?

I'm however not sure on the firmware. Where can I see this? How can I find new firmware and can update this?

HI Pascal, we are currently looking into the issue, but could you also check if you are using the latest FW binary?

You can check "firmware Base Image" in the General Settings tab in GUI:

The latest binary is included as part of the latest GUI tool download v3.16:

I have updated the Firmware Base but the same failures occur.(1.12.07)

sink qi tx advanced 24_05_18_mod2.pjt 2018-05-31 112749380 - USB Compliance Vendor Info.txtHi Paskal, I see failures on #3)TD.PD.SNK.E2 and #4)TD.PD.SNK.E10 but not others with version 1.12.07 FW. I have made some modifications to the project file and vif you have provided(as there were some mismatches). Regarding failure #3) and #4). These issues are being looked into and will be addressed in the next release of the FW.

Can you please clarify why you did remove the PDO with 12V and 15V?
The product is able to support 12V, 15V and 14.8V. I added this 14.8V since there the 29W Apple charger have this PDO.

5V is not supported and will not charge the batteries of the product but will not hurt. I think it's not possible to remove the 5V PDO, correct?

The Ellisys failure 1 and 2 remain even when loading your firmware in the TPS65982 boosterpack EVM.

Hi Pascal, I have changed the Sink cap setting for test purposes. If you would want to support 12V, 14.8V up to 15V, I reeommend you use variable PDO setting as shown attached. sink qi tx advanced 24_05_18_mod3.pjt Please also change the VIF accordingly.

Could you share the Ellisys SW versions number and also PD/CC traces of the failures?

Thanks for the support.

I did change the PDO to variable.

Ellisys version is 3.1.6729.

I did make the traces where you can download the software to view at:

Hi Pascal, I am not able to replicate some of the failures. I am attaching the test log, vif, project file and binary for my setup.

I did load the files in a TPS65982 BossterPack but still fails for E1 and E2.

Here the results when I load your pj and bin file:1 2018-06-12 121044 pascal dry run ti.zip

When i look my original settings I do see E4 fail:

What is the setting I need change to get this pass?

I'm also running the MQP tests with other failures but will bring this up in another discussion.
