TPS2553D: TPS2553D Current Limit Output Behavior

Part Number: TPS2553D

Hi

My customer is studying TPS2553D current limit behavior. Despite the circuit did not construct auto-retry yet the output is momentarily turn on & off. We realize datasheet mentions once the internal current sense amplifier is over-driven and it will momentarily disables the internal current-limit MOSFET.

There is no issue found in customer application but customer likes us to clarify the whether the Vout waveform is expected and what is the reason to have such mechanism. Could you help to enlighten?

Test condition: load the output until over the current limit and Vout waveform is captured as below

Regards
Kelvin

  • Hi, Kelvin,

How much is Vin and Load?

This waveform looks like thermal cycling. There're some waveform in datasheet.

    Regards,

    Bob
