TPS65982: Confirm about function flow

Guru 19655 points
Part Number: TPS65982

Please let me check about confuse point for TPS65982DA function flow,  procedure steps is below:

I want to know step ④ is correct or not, and the reason of occur step ⑤.

------------------------------------------------------------------

①When Main board(CPU) shift the state to shutdown, it means that PDC (PD controller) will be set to Sink only by EC.

②No device connect with main board's type-c ports.

③Type-C port CC waveform is attached; CH1 is CC1(Yellow) / CH2 is CC2(Green).

④I think that the CC line need fixed to Rd(Low) when set to sink only.

⑤But from waveform this port declare is DRP, not sink only.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

You're correct, the PD controller should only show Rd once configured as PD sink. I think there's some issue with the update from EC.

Can you share the I2C logs when the EC tries to configure the PD controller as sink?

    Thanks,

    Thank you for reply,

I attached I2C log, please see EXCEL file.

    I2C DATA.xlsx

    Sorry for additional question;

For example, above board with TPS65982D named "Board-1", another board with TPS65982 named "Board-2".

I find both(Board-1 and Board-2) CC same output toggle(Rp/Rd) when set in Sink only.

If connect Board-1 and Board-2 to one Dual role type-c device(with AC adapter) and has probability power role recognize fail.

Question; Is there any other different factor between Board-1 and Board-2 PDC which leading this issue happened?

    Best regards,

    Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,

I am taking this up offline and hence marking this as resolved here.

    Thanks,
