TUSB212: DC Boost for cable

Part Number: TUSB212
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB211

Dear Specialists,

My customer is encountering similar situation.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

additional question about the thread

1. Is it possible that TUSB212 DC boost broke the USB handshake between the host and Iphone? So that it only get USB1.x spec data rate?

No, our redriver wouldn't broke the procedure of negotiation. But higher DC boost would leads to High Speed disconnection. I consider the dc level is very close to  disconnect threshold, so sometimes the handshake would fail, and host reset, then reconnect...

Question---> regarding disconnect, I'd like to know in more detail.

You mentioned higher DC Boost leads to disconnect.

I compared with low DC boost and high DC boost, but no difference was found between the two waveforms.

How does it detect the disconnect threshold?

2. Are we able to disable DC boost? We are trying to get some TUSB211 sample for test now.

Yes, You could disable DC boost if you could use I2C access the register of TUSB212.

Question--->

I confirmed the datasheet, I can't find any description about disable DC boost.

Could you please inform how to set disable DC boost.

Also, I'd like to know how to set disable AC boost.

Now even though DCboost and ACboost settings are minimized, a connection error has occurred.

When the TUSB212 is turned off, connection error does not occur.

3. Do you have any other suggestion?

EQ and DC boost would help you pass compliance test, but we don't think higher DC& EQ are good for you. So I advice that you could choose the smallest value from all settings that can be passed the eye diagram.

original question by the customer

1. When I add a CR termination between D2P and D2M experimentally, connection error was not happened.

Is it possible to use workaround?

If not, could you please provide the workaround.

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi
