DP83849I: Can the device support ARINC 664 part 7 AFDX spec

Part Number: DP83849I

Dear all,

one of my AA is looking for an eternet PHY able to support the ARINC 664 AFDX.

Moreover the device should have 2 channels which can be used as primary and redundance channel.

I was thinking to the DP83849I but I'm not sure if it is compliant with ARINC 664 AFDX.

Do you have any suggestions ?

regards,

Domenico

  • Hi Domenico,

AFDX looks like a higher layer protocol designed to operate on processors and switches. One of the points mentioned for AFDX is that it was designed to work with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) components. As such, it looks like DP83849I will work in this case. Let me know if I am missing anything. If you do encounter any PHY specific requirements, we can definitely look at it again.
