TUSB320: How much current can sink when TUSB320 is in dead battery mode?

Hi Brian,

Is there any standalone type-c controller w/o PD can do 3A in default? If battery is flat, 900mA is not enough for system boots up.

If DFP can support 3A, can TUSB320 in UFP side be changed to 3A via I2C after system is up?
What is the process to determine sink current?

as UFP, the TUSB320 device detects and communicates the advertised current level of the DFP to the system
through the OUT1 and OUT2 GPIOs (if in GPIO mode) or through the I
2C CURRENT_MODE_DETECT register one time in the Attached.SNK state.

Hi Brian,

The default current is 900mA in dead battery. After system powers up, TUSB320 can be controlled via I2C and get higher current sink ability, right? I saw in the section 7.3.3 of datasheet, host can give some commands to reset Rd and Rp. So I assume, after these commands, TUSB320 can sink 3A from host, right? During these commands, will Vbus from DFP drop? Our system does not have battery. We do not want a power cycle in that case.
