TPS25740B: Will this part go EOL in near future?

Part Number: TPS25740B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987D

Hello Team,

One of my customer is starting a new design and they had shortlisted TPS25740B because of simplicity of the design. Currently this device is NRND.

They would like to know, if this device will remain in production or is there a plan to EOL this part?

Regards,

Mahendra

  • Hello Mahendra,

We are not recommending customers implement this device into future designs as we will only support current customers that have it implemented within current designs. Recommend to have them use the TPS65987D which integrates the high voltage power path, and can also sink voltage if their design allows for it.
  • Hello,

Customer don't need any sinking capability in the design.

For a 36W or 45W type-C PD charger design, does TPS65987D need external flash or MCU? Is hardware setting/internal memory sufficient to support the requirement?

TPS25740B doesn't need any MCU/flash which makes it favorable for the requirement here.

    Kindly share your feedback.

    Regards,

    Mahendra

  • Hello Mahendra,

Answered your question via email, but will also post the answer here for the forum.

Reason for NRND is because USB-IF will no longer certify PD 2.0 systems starting next year. No plans to EOL as long as customers continue to buy the part.
