DS80PCI402: used in different SSD cases

Part Number: DS80PCI402
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB1002A, DS80PCI810, DS125BR401A

Hi Lee,

we had seen the product road map and it seems only 810 can support link training but the 402 is right channels numberfor their SSD design.

Want to confirm if there is no link training DS80PCI402 but used at SSD application, will it fail recognition for different SSD vendors ?

I can also propose TUSB1002A used at PCIE gen3 application but I still want to propose DS80PCI402 or 810 series then

  • Hi Ray,

For SSDs currently there are three options to use.

    1. Use the DS80PCI810 with register control to program the RxDetect mechanism on a per channel basis to coordinate with any Hot Insertion / Removal events.

    2. Use the DS80PCI402 - works best when the DS80PCI402 is near the middle of the PCIe channel.

    3. Use the DS125BR401A - works better than the DS80PCI402 when placement is offset close to the SSD or upstream device.  It is important to connect the DS125BR401A A-side inputs to the closest PCIe Tx.

    Regards,

    Lee
