TPS65982: When 982 role is sink, how could we define OVP point?

Part Number: TPS65982

The product is Docking, inside docking is 982 device, 982 act as sink, and NB act as source, 5V voltage.   I set FW below configuration,

   1. OVP trip point: 24V

   2. High voltage warning level : Warning when source VBUS voltage exceeds 20% ....

   3. Low voltage warning level, Warning when source VBUS voltage dips below 20% ....

Now we find NB sourcing 982, VBUS voltage will high to 6.5V, then CC disconnection.

So we highly suspect the error is coming from NB , and not sure when 982 is sink, how about the OVP point when 5V?  24V? or 5*( 1+20%) = 6v?

When high voltage warning level comes t0 6V, VBUS will be disconnected.

   Please support here, Thanks,

  • Hello April,
If you have bits 22:23 of register 0x28 configured to OVPTripPoint, then the OVP trip point will always be 24V. However, if you change the over voltage protection usage to the setting highlighted below, then it will determine the OVP value based on the maximum voltage for that specific PDO.
