  • Hello Shlomi,

    Can I work with DS90UB935-Q1 & DS90UB954-Q1?

Yes, there is no problem with this

Can I work with pixel rate of 25M in DS90UB935-Q1/953-Q1?

Yes, the 935/954 are fixed line rate devices, so there is no minimum pixel clock value since the input is CSI-2. You should only concern yourself with the CSI-2 bandwidth required for your video which is based off the data type and CSI-2 speed from the imager. Please consult your imager sensor vendor for the value. 935 can support up to 2.528Gbps of CSI-2 bandwidth

In DS90UB953 EV-Kit there is a place for daughter card to deliver CS2. I can't find any information regarding this card. Can you advise if TI or 3rd party have matching board?

We used to supply an example imager daughter card but have stopped producing and including it with the kit. Our suggestion to customers is that they can design their own board which plugs into this connector to interface with their particular imager. The EVM schematics will show you the pin out for this connector

Same for DS90UB954 EV-Kit, I have J24 connector (CSI Output). Again, Can you advise if TI or 3rd party have matching board?

We have several third parties designing HW for interfacing with our devices, not specifically with the EVM in all cases. For third party hardware for 954 I would contact Leopard Imaging or D3. Also the pinout for this connector is included in the EVM schematics.

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hi Casey,

    Understood.

Can you please supply dimensions information (DXF, stp, iges,etc...) of the 953 and 954 EVM so I can design my i'f boards?

    Thanks,

    Shlomi

  • Hello Shlomi,

Please send me an email at c-mccrea@ti.com and I will give you the Altium files.

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hi Casey,

My native camera format is RAW14. I saw in DS90UB954 data sheet that this is not directly supported. Some questions in regards:

    1. Is that correct or I am missing something?
    2. In case the answer to #1 is "correct", I can send the RAW14 in a paded 16bit short packet over the CSI I/F. How can I decode that to a 16/14bit video format in the DS90UB954?

    Thanks,

    Shlomi

  • Hello Shlomi,

954 does support RAW14. In the datasheet, RAW modes are only mentioned in the context of backwards compatibility when pairing with non-CSI-2 input serializers like 933 or 913A which support  8 bit,10 bit, or 12 bit modes, but not anything else. When paired with a CSI-2 serializer like 935/953, the device doesn't care what CSI data type is used. It will simply pass through the CSI-2 packets just as they were received by the sensor with the same data type and formatting.

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Can the serializer act as host and configure the des via the BCC (I couldn't find an answer in the datasheet)?

  • Shlomi,

Yes, when the two devices are linked you can access the registers on the remote device in either direction. The partner DES I2C ID is located in register 0x37 on the 953/935.

    Best Regards,

    Casey
