USB C routing to USB hub

Hi, I am designing a board with USB hub and USB C connectors acting as host side (connector size matters).

I have a question regarding routing of the connector.

Or should I route them to hub separately and loose half of the ports?

Do you have any recommendation for this?

Which USB Hub are you using? We can ensure the correct expert answers your question from the USB Hub perspective. From the Type-C Port perspective, I would suggest following the guidelines from the forum post you had linked to.

Hi Eric,

it is not decided at the moment but I'd say TUSB8041 would do well.

Hi,

TUSB8041 does not support the Type-C connector by itself and a Type-C Mux will be need for this application (one per Type-C port). Could you share more details about your application? I would suggest following the guidelines from the forum post you had linked to for routing of the Type-C connector.

thank you for your reactions.

The problems is routing Superspeed TX and RX pairs to TX1 and Tx2 pairs and RX1 and RX2 pairs, respectively. The original forum post does not go into this detail. Otherwise it is a valuable resource of information.

I think Type-C Mux is actually the answer, though the solution size and price increase significantly.

On the USB hub downstream port, you would need HD3SS3212 to mux the hub signal to the Type C connector.
