TPS65988: Status check

Part Number: TPS65988

Hello Eric,

I would like to confirm which profile was established as a result of negotiation.
I want to use SRDY to turn on the switch if the result is met with the intended profile.
And I want to supply power to the device in the latter stage. Which status register should I check to do this?
Specifically, I want to confirm that the source side has a 1.5A supply capacity.
For example, even though a manufacturer's product specification requires typeC to TypeC,
I am thinking of a situation where the user uses a typeA to typeC cable. At this time,
if only 500mA can be supplied, I would like to create a mechanism that prevents the latter system from starting up.

Best regards,
DDdoor

  • Hi DDdoor,

You can check the Active Contract PDO register to see if a PD contract has been established and what the voltage/current are. You can also check the Power Status register 0x3F to see if there is a Type-C implicit contract in place and what the current value is. Please refer to the Host Interface TRM for more information:

    Thank you,
    Eric
