TPS65983B: Whether TPS65983B can make USB interface pass through by default

Hi Ti team,

1, Our product is a mobile phone, and we need to use TYPEC interface to record the program of i.m. X8M system. At this time, we need tps65983B, which is to directly connect C_USB_TP, C_USB_TN, or C_USB_BP, C_USB_BN through to USB_RP_N,USB_RP_P.

When the system is not running and I2C cannot configure TPS65983B and the SPI FLASH configured by TPS65983B is empty

 2, Please help us confirm whether TPS65983B can realize USB pass-through by default or what are the methods?

3, If TPS65893B cannot be implemented, is there any other IC that can support this function?

4, What are the differences between these IC's TPS65983B,TPS65982,TPS65987D?

5, Is there any configuration software or original code to configure SPI FLASH for TPS6598X for reference?

    Hi Jimmy,

    The TPS65983B is constrained to only support Intel Thunderbolt Reference designs. If your product does not follow one of these references exactly then the firmware will not perform as expected.

    Both the TPS65982 and TPS65987D have more general purpose implementations and greater user configuration options in device firmware. I would suggest evaluating the '87D first.

    TPS65987D was selected last year (The customer has suggested to stop using this model design on the official website)

    TPS65983B was selected in the first half of this year, and the end-customer wanted to choose TPS65982.

    • We does the hardware design, the end-customer does the software.

      • 1,So we need your help to confirm which of these three styles is more suitable?

    Hi Jimmy,

    None of the PD controllers will support a pass through signal, that is an output that follows an input directly.

    The TPS65987D is the newest PD Controller from the devices mentioned. We would need more detail to suggest a particular device.
