DP83869HM: Real consumption

Hello,

I create a new post about the DP83869HM consumption.

I read some posts on TI forum about the mismatch info concerning the power consumption and you (the TI team) always said "the correct info will be on the next release...".

OK, but when is this new release? We currently design 2 projects with this component and we dont know exactly how many milliwatts are consummed by each power supply...

2nd problem: You give the total consumption for 50% utilization. Is it possible to have the maximum power consumption for each power supply (in the datasheet) for 2 power supply mode and 3 power supply mode please?

Max Current Requirements for RGMII to 1000M

For 3 Supply Option

2.5V : 100 mA

1.8V : 55 mA

1.1V: 200 mA

VDDIO (3V3) : 80 mA

For Two Supply option,

2.5V : 155 mA

1.1V: 200 mA

VDDIO (3V3) : 80 mA

Is it possible to have the same values for the worst case (1000Base-TX to 1000Base-X) please? I think you gave me the consumption for RGMII to 1G Copper, right? You confirm this is for 100% utilization?

Yes, these numbers are for 100% utilization, Random Content, Random size 0 to 1512 bytes.

000Base-TX to 1000Base-X: You need this for 1G Media Convertor mode ?

Exactly, I am currently designing a 1G media converter.

Is there any difference with the RGMII to 1G copper mode?

Which configuration you are planning to use ?

a) 2 Power Supply

b) 3 Power Supply

Hi Geet,

I think I'll use the 2 power supply mode but it will be very interesting if you put the consumption for these 2 modes please.

Maybe someone will use the other mode and will be very intersted with this info.

Hi,

Find below max power numbers for 3 power supply case. Below numbers are measured for 100% utlisation, random packet content, random size from 64 to 1512 bytes.

2V5 : 250mA

1V8 : 75 mA

1V1 : 100 mA

VDDIO:3.3 : 20 mA

Hi Geet,

You gave me consumption for 3 power supply mode but you forgot for 2 power supply mode...

As I said, normally I should use the 2 power supply mode.

For two supply option, please add the 1.8V to 2.5V current consumption as internal LDO generate the 1.8V from 2.5V supply.

When do you plan to have the boards and go in production ?

Thanks for details.

We need to make a prototype beforehand but if the power supply dmensionning could be good the first time, that would be good. Concerning the prototype, if we can make it within a month, it would be perfect.
