DS80PCI402: Signal Detect feature is the same as Squelch feature

Hi Team,

My customer is evaluating DS80PCI402 with Electrical-to-Optical translation module, because communication between boards is optical fiber cable.
Since output differential signal from the E/O module increases gradually at start-up, and the system might cause PCI Express communication error at start-up.
If the DS80PCI402 had Squelch feature, it could not output signal while input signal level was lower than threshold level, they think.
The DS80PCI402 has Signal Detect feature, and the Signal Detect Threshold level is programmable.
Can the Signal Detect feature be used as the Squelch feature which they request?

They do not have the desired thresholds for the Squelch feature yet.
The DS80PCI402 has Signal Detect feature, and the Signal Detect Threshold level is programmable.
Can the Signal Detect feature be used as the Squelch feature which they request?

Hello Koshi-

We need to know the desired thresholds and the link data rate to determine if Signal Detect function could be used as a Squelch function. Typically, DS80PCI402 Signal Detect thresholds can be adjusted high enough to be used as a Squelch function for data rates of up to 2 Gbps. At higher data rates, the thresholds may be too low to be effective for the Squelch function.
