DS90UB953-Q1: DS90UB914

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

hello,team

I have 2 questions about  SNLA270A,UB953 work with UB914

one is that there is a note that YUV 8bit  format is not supported

can we use YUV422 10bit mode to transmit YUV422 8bit  data while upper 2bits have no data

or can we use YUV422 12bit-HF mode  to transmit YUV422 8bit while upper 4bits have no data

another one is how to calculate  total Parallel output that is going to be sent out from the 914 and into Processor

if output format  is YUV422 10bit+HS+VS+CLK ( clk=96MHZ)   active pixel  1280*800@30 fps ,total timing with blanking is 1905*840@30fps

total Parallel output is 96MHZ*10bit=960Mbps ,right or wrong?

  • Hi

we will check and give you feedback later.

  • HI User6015525,

Please refer to the app. note page7, yes, it is clearly that YUV422_8_8 is not supported due to internal framing difference. If you can't use RAW10 mode to transmit RAW8 data.

"DS90UB953-Q1 only supports 10 bit or 12 bit RAW or similar formats in backwards compatible mode. Formats that
fall in same structure as RAW10 or RAW12 can be supported. For example, there are 3 YUV types
that have the same pixel packing as RAW10 and can also be used: YUV420 10 bit, YUV420 10 bit
Chroma shifted or YUV422 10bit. Register 0x10[2] should be set to one in these cases. YUV 8 bit
formats are not supported as the CSI-2 pixel packing structure is different from that of RAW10 or
    RAW12."

For the second issue, your calculation is correct.
