XIO2001: sometimes the network card cannot be identified

Part Number: XIO2001

Dear TI Experts,

My customer is using XIO2001,transfer PCI Express to PCI
And now they met with below problems, really need your suggestions

1.Customer's end customer has below feedback:sometimes the network card cannot be identified, sometimes the startup does not display, sometimes the startup does not install the network card driver, sometimes it cannot start.

2. Customer has a main board,After the pci4 slot is inserted into the network card, sometimes the network card cannot be identified. When another PCI device is inserted into another slot, the probability becomes higher. When one more PCI device is added, the probability becomes lower.

3.Customer find out that  the CLKOUT5 is pulled down, their is no CLK output

4.The end customer returned 9set main board that has met the No.1 problem, and after replacing the new xio2001 chip, the above abnormal phenomena disappear

Can you help to analyze the possible causes of the  chip damage? Thank you very much~

  • sorry, our response may slow due to Thanksgiving.

  • Hi,

When installing, testing, or manufacuting boards it is possible to cause electrical overstress in sensitive electronic components.  I am not in a position to analzye this damage, but since 9 boards have this same issue there is likely something on the customer side which is enabling this damage.  I agree with you that changing to a new device and having the problem dissapear is a clear indication that the part has failed in this application.

    Regards,

    Lee
