TLK2711-SP: Maximum current rating of WizardLink Output signals

Part Number: TLK2711-SP

During testing, I have inadvertently connected both True and Complement WizardLink output signals (DOUTTXN and DOUTTXP) to a 50-ohm load to 0 V, instead of the required common-mode voltage.

The device specification does not give "absolute maximum" figures for these data lines. Will I have caused stress on the device driver outputs, potentially affecting the device reliability?

  • Hi,

This is not a valid output configuration. I would recommend to modify the board by removing the 50-ohm loads.

  • Hi Rodrigo,

I appreciate that this is not a valid output configuration. The loads were attached in error during test, and have since been removed

As this is a high-reliability space application, I need to know if the reliability of the TLK2711 may have been affected by this incorrect configuration.

As I said in my original post, the device data sheet does not provide any information on the impact of this configuration.

"Absolute Maximum" current outputs (as is normally specified on many devices) would be useful.

    Thank you for your attention,

    Regards,

    Michael

  • Hi,

I don't expect any actual damage to the device to have occurred.
