DS26LV31T: Fault condition when Vcc out of range

Part Number: DS26LV31T

Hi,

we are doing FMEA analysis of circuit with these devices inside.

Could you explain me what happens when Vcc is higher (12V) than the max absolute rating value?

My concern is to verify that the consequent faut does not cause the supply voltage (12V) directly on the output, otherwise a downstream chain reaction would be triggered.

Thanks,

Alberto

  • Alberto,

If the Vcc is over the abs max for a long time, generally the internal cells will get damaged and a short current path will be created from Vcc to ground in the device. Consequently the thermal failure may follow. It's not likely the device still stands the voltage and passes it on to the output. Please let me know if you have more questions about this.

    Regards,

    Hao
