TFP410: Can't see a picture on a monitor while connect the TFP410 with an HDMI cable to a monitor.

Part Number: TFP410

Hello TI experts,

I try to work with the TFP410 and see a picture.

The pins I used are:

TX2+, TX2-, TX1+, TX1-, TX0+, TX0-, TXC+, TXC-.

I connected these pins by HDMI cable to a monitor and can't see a picture.

Can you please advise me on what can I correct to make it work?

*There is a PDF with the configuration I use with the TFP410.HDMI _ HDMI.pdf

  • Hi Edan,

Please correct the following in your schematic:

    1. Tie pin 34 to ground

    2. Connect a pull-up resistor between 505 and 515 ohms to pin 19 (reference the datasheet for details)

Also, can you confirm that HPD is high on your monitor is high when the TFP410 is connected?

    Regards,

    I.K.

  • Hello I.K. Anyiam,

    1. I tied pin 34 to GND.

    2. I  connected pin 19 TFADJ to a pull-up resistor between 505 and 515 ohms.

    3. HPD is high 4V.

I have a few more questions:

    * Can I see a picture on a screen with a direct connection between the TFP and the screen when the TFP has 3.3V voltage levels?

*The connection at the moment between the TFP and a monitor is by an HDMI cable which one side of it connected to the monitor and the other side connected with a Hirose DF14 connector to our PCB.

We connected a diode (B120-13-F); its anode to a 5V supply and cathode to the wire of 5V (pin 18 in the HDMI connector). Is this connection of 5V ok in your opinion for seeing a picture on the monitor?

If you need more details on our circuit to understand why not working just ask.

    Thank you

    Edan

  • Hi Edan,

You should be able to see a picture on the screen with the TFP as long as the electrical/switching characteristics of the monitor are compatible with the TFP410.

I don't see an issue with your connection of 5V on the HDMI connector.

Are you able to see an output clock on the TFP410 (TXC+/-)?

    Regards,

    I.K.
