Hi Team, 

My customer encountered exception window pops up with the following info:

Exception Encountered during EVM Recover:*** ERROR in FTDI call (I2C_OpenChannel), status: 1

thread, he wanted to know the correct FTDI driver to use with the "TPS65981_2_6_7_8 Application Customization Tool" for Microsoft Windows 8.1. ?

    Hello Renan,

    I'm not sure what FTDI driver correlates with what version of Windows. The best way to debug would be to uninstall and install different FTDI driver versions and see which one works for your system.

    Hello Adam,

    I am the customer having this issue. I have tried the versions of the FTDI drivers in the above link but no success. 

    I just want to confirm that if I purchase the Aardvark device, that I will not have this issue. 

    The TPS65987DJEVM evaluation board has the on board TIVA solution to program/configure the USB-C PD chip. Can I use an external board like the EK-TM4C123GXL evaluation board to do the same function? The thing that concerns me is that the TIVA firmware on two boards may be different. How can I get the source code of the TIVA on the TPS65987DJEVM? If I have that, then I can burn that into the EK-TM4C123GXL board and use it as an external TIVA device to program my boards.

    Hello,

    Yes, the Aardvark is a tried and true solution that will work.

    The TIVA should also work if you have that available. We are implementing an on board TIVA solution for all future EVM's since FTDI has given us so much trouble. The v6.1.1 version of the GUI has TIVA implementation should if you have a TIVA solution that you can connect it to our EVM. However, I am not 100% sure of this implementation since the EK-TM4C123GXL could be different than how our new TIVA EVMs are designed so I would only use this implementation if you have the EK-TM4C123GXL board readily available. If not, then the Aardvark would be the safer solution

    Thanks. Yes the I used the Windows7 Aardvark driver and was able to connect with the evaluation board.
