DS90UB948-Q1: Touch screen signal through FPDLINK

Part Number: DS90UB948-Q1

Hi all,

My customer want to use DS90UB948 + 941 or 947 in their automotive product. Their processor is in sterilizer side and there'll be a touch controller on 948 side.

1. Can sterilizer side be I2C master to get touch ic's data through fpdlink? I see description on datasheet about multi-master mode but I don't know how to define it.

2. If sterilizer side's processor can't be I2C master, any suggestion to pass touch ic's data to processor?

Thanks for your kindly help.

Best regards,

Gary Teng

  • Hello Gary,

Yes, the I2C master at the serializer side can access a touch controller through the FPD-Link channel with these devices. This is a highly common application and the functionality is described in the datasheet. Multi-master is something different - it is referring to the fact that the serializer I2C port can act as both a slave or a master because from the other side of the link, technically an I2C master could be used in the other direction to access a device attached to the serializer I2C bus. In this case the serializer would act like a master, so if there is another master device like you mentioned attached to the serializer, then the bus would operate in multi-master configuration.

    Best Regards,
