DS90C387A: RGB to LVDS mapping question

Part Number: DS90C387A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP401A

I have a related question to my previous thread (HDMI to LVDS single/dual link).

I'm converting DVI with TFP401A to single-pixel RGB (24-bits). TFP401A outputs this on even-pixel output (QE0-QE23). This will be connected to DS90C387A RGB to LVDS serializer/transmitter. I'm now wondering about the connection. Based on DS90C387A datasheet, I would connect the TFP401A outputs directly to corresponding DS90C387A inputs as my panel uses VESA/format 2 LVDS (MSB on LVDS channels 3 and 7).

However, based on application note SNLA014A How to Map RGB Signals to LVDS/OpenLDI(OLDI) Displays two LSBs would be connected to transmitter two MSBs:

This is a bit confusing and I'd like to know what is the correct way of interconnecting TFP401A output to DS90387A input, when the panel uses VESA standard LVDS?

Best regards,

/ Ville
