TUSB319-Q1: part behavior

Genius 4680 points
Part Number: TUSB319-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24392

In attached configuration.

TUSB319-Q1.pptx

1.Please let us know system behavior when  TUSB319 accept 5V/3A from CC pin information but  DCDC source doesn't have 3A capability.

Does this part continue to flow 3A(cause Vin drop ?) ?

2.To prevent Vin drop,should they set Type-C current 1.5A ?

3.If they set Type-C current 1.5A,please let us know how to accept apple device(2.1A,2.4A).

4.If they want to support Type-C and BC1.2,please let us know circuit configuration and send application note for this.

  • Hi Kura,

    1. If system cannot provide 3A then TUSB319 should not be configured to advertise 3A charging. TUSB319 only advertise the current available and does not regulate the flow of current.

    2. Yes.

    3. TUSB319 advertises charging capability over the CC line. This is separate form apple charging which is detected over D+/D-. Another device would need to be used to advertise/detect this type- of charging.

    4. A separate device like BQ24392 would be needed. Circuits are largely separate so referring to the datasheets of both devices would give you the best information.

    About your answer 4

    Please see attached.TUSB319-Q1_BQ24392pptx.pptx

If they add BQ24392 to their system and set TUSB319 1.5A and their DCDC can support up to 2.5A.

In this case,if Apple 2.4A part connected to typeC,which charge current(1.5A or 2.4A) is chosen ?

  • HI Kura-san,

Apple chagrining is negotiated over DP/DM and TUSB319 would not inhibit this function for higher current charging at 2.4A. First CC current is negotiated and then if Apple charging detection occurs then device will update its current consumption.

Block diagram looks good to me.
