DS80PCI402: Programming the EEPROM

Hi Sir,

I want to design DSP80PCI402 as a master in I2C mode and connect with an EEPROM.
I have several questions in mind.

1. Is the AT24C04C EEPROM from Microchips compatible in this application?

2. is that okay if i program EEPROM with both EEPROM and DSP80PCI402 power on. note that the SCL and SDA for both devices are connected.

3. If question 2 is feasible, what precaution should i take to prevent miscommunication and damage to the DSP80PCI402.

Hi Desmond,

1). AT24C04C at 3.3V supply should be fine.

2). This should be fine since SCL and SDA are referenced to 3.3V supply.

3). We just need to make sure we are within the limit of SCL/SDA 3.3V limits(<3.6V).

Hi Nasser,

i check the requirement for the EEPROM, the EEPROM address must me 0xA0,

The EEPROM it self would be a 7-bit address, 0xA0 is for write operation, 0xA1 would be read operation.

Since the DS80PCI402 is a master, it would only perform read operation on the EEPROM. (I assume) Therefore, it is always required 0xA1 to access the device.

DS80PCI402 required it as 0xA0, would EEPROM would be 0xA1 for read access, do the DS80PCI402 still able to access the EEPROM?
Probably need your help to explain a little bit.

Hi Desmond,

DS80PCI402 cannot write to the EEPROM and thus bit 0 is always "1". Please refer to the EEPROM data sheet section 6.1 for detailed operation:
