TVS0701: IEC60601-2-27 NEGATIVE DEFIB DISCHARGE @ 400J to replace MAX30034

Part Number: TVS0701

Hi,

Our customer is designing a medical sensor patch that needs AED defib protection at the electrode inputs according to IEC60601-2-27.  They're used to using MAX30034 for clamping.  Can TVS0701 replace MAX30034?  I'm attaching a TINA simulation of the defib discharge test for your reference.  Please also check out the MAX30034 datasheet for the IEC60601-2-27 test IV curves.  It's not very clear to me that TVS0701 can pass the IEC test.  Please offer your feedback.  Thanks.MX10_DefibTest_CM.TSC

  • Hello Kelvin,

Unfortunately, I cannot find any TI ESD/TVS protection device to replace MAX30034. The main IEC standards we test our parts for are IEC 61000-4-2, IEC 61000-4-4, IEC 61000-4-5, and IEC 61643-321. I am unfamiliar with IEC 60601-2-27, but seems that is very specific to just AEDs and ECGs. Since AEDs especially send out high voltage shocks, the protection standards are going to be much different from general ESD/TVS protection.  Let me know if you need any more info on this.

    Regards,
