TUSB1064: DisplayPort Main Link Inter-Pair Length Matching After Redriver

Part Number: TUSB1064

Dear TI,

In a related post, it was suggested that interpair skew correction should be done before and after the TUSB1064. However, in our design, we do not have space to do interpair matching before the TUSB1064.

Is it OK to compensate AFTER the TUSB1064 for the interpair skew that happens BEFORE the TUSB1064? In other words, we would adjust the Main Link differential pair lengths after the TUSB1064 to take into account the mismatch that occurs before the TUSB1064.

Thanks!

  • Hi Marcis,

Since TUSB1064 is a redriver and will not compensate the skew at its input so compensation should be done before the part as well. The total skew = input skew + TUSB1064 skew + output skew but the DP spec allows a very large inter-pair skew so as long as the total skew follows the DP spec, typically, this is not an issue.
