SN6507: slew rate control and duty cycle control

Part Number: SN6507

Hello,

About  these two applications,  could you please help to explain why the duty cycle control need to add inductor of the output while the slew rate control doesn't need to add inductor?

  • Hi Kailyn,

    Thank you for your question.

With fixed input, the SN6507 expects a Vin to be a stable, constant DC. In this case duty cycle is fixed to about 50% and an inductor is not needed.

With a wide-ranging input, Duty Cycle Control can be enabled using Rdc and the output inductor. The SN6507 will attempt to compensate for the non-fixed input by varying the duty cycle to keep a stable output. Please see 8.3.3 of the data sheet for more information on setting Duty Cycle Control and inductor selection.

If you need a specific slew rate for your application please set Rsr according to table 8-2. Slew Rate control is available in either fixed or variable frequency modes.

I hope this helps. Please reach out if you have more questions.
