ISO3086: Voltage on the driver side.

Part Number: ISO3086

I have designed an LED driver for DMX applications using the ISO3086 for isolation. I´m using 5V on the logic side but 3.3V on the driver side. It is working but it worries me in the long term, since the datasheet recommends 5V on both sides. Would it be an issue?

  • Hi Thiago,

    Thank you for your question.

The logic side VCC at 5V is good.

However, The driver side VCC is at 3.3V is not within the recommended operating conditions. Since the driver side VCC is not within the recommended operating conditions, the device may not operate as expected.

The 3.3V is within the absolute maximum specifications so the device may not be damaged due to this voltage at driver side VCC.

In order to ensure the normal operation of the device, we highly recommend staying within the recommended operating conditions.
