ISO7820: I would like to know the carrier frequency used in these devices.

Part Number: ISO7820

I am having some radiated emissions issues around 160MHz and this component is the only recent change to our previously validated design.  Could you please provide the carrier frequency?

  • Hi Joshua,

The 160MHz shouldn't be from ISO7820, the carrier signal used in the device is at much higher frequency. The power level of the carrier signal is very low and it doesn't appear in any of the radiated emissions test including CISPR 22 and CISPR 25.

Could you please share more details about your application? How are you using ISO7820? What is the radiated emission standard that you are planning to comply with?

  • Thank you for your response.  We have since narrowed in on another portion of the design.  The ISO7820 has no real signature on the spectrum analyzer in this frequency range.  We are using the 7820 to modulate an analog high voltage signal across the isolation barrier in a high voltage battery system.  The standard we are intending to comply with is DNV-GL 2.4 (which is similar to CISPR 25.)

Thanks again for getting back to me.

  • Hi Josh,

Thanks for your detailed inputs. I am glad to know that you could root cause the source of radiations at 160MHz in your design.

Per our experience with other customers, you shouldn't see any issues in complying to CISPR 25 standard with ISO7820.
    Thanks again.
